EMS World in Latin America
Spanish-language edition of EMS World to launch in 2016
IN AUGUST, I HAD THE PLEASURE OF TRAVELING TO
Bogota, Colombia—along with David Page MS, NRP, direc-
tor of the Prehospital Care Research Forum at UCLA, and
Gary Wingrove, chair of the
International Roundtable on
Community Paramedicine—to
take part in a conference put on
by the Colombian Association
of Professionals in Prehospital
Care, Emergency and Disaster
(ACOTAPH).
It was exciting to see such a vari-
ety of participation from the military, hospitals, police, and
both public and private EMS services.
In Colombia and all over Latin America there is a hunger
for more international clinical and operational information.
With translation help from ACOTAPH and editorial direction
from David Page, we are pleased to announce the premiere
of Revista EMS World, a Spanish-language version of select
articles from EMS World that will be made available on a
bimonthly basis.
"We must support our neighbors to the south. The talent
and dedication of EMS providers in Latin-American coun-
tries is unquestionable," says Page. "Despite unbelievably
low budgets, lack of equipment and low pay, these dedicated
professionals provide exceptional care. Providers often seek
out quality education at their own personal expense. With
a Spanish translation we will bring state-of-the-art informa-
tion to improve care in corners of Latin America we can't yet
imagine."
In addition many other organizations are joining forces to
help disseminate the publication moving forward, including
well-known medical universities in Central and South America.
If you are interested in checking out our premiere issue
and getting digital copies of future editions, go to Revista.
