Because of the high incidence of disease, EMS profes- sionals will frequently care for children with bronchiolitis and should be aware of current recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Bronchiolitis is caused by a viral infec- tio n, w ith re spirato r y s y n c y tial v ir us (RSV) being the most regularly iden- tifiable. In one cohor t of inpatient and outpatient subjects, RSV was identified in 76% of ca s e s . Rhinov irus wa s the second-most common cause at 18%.
